Después de pasar por un infierno, con tintes autodestructivos, durante el cual parió el "Tonight's the night" y el "Time fades away", Neil vuelve a ver la luz y sorprende con esta obra maestra que pasó bastante desapercibida cuando apareció en su día. Con la estrecha colaboración de Rusty Kershaw, Young entrega un álbum limpio, seco, nada sobre producido y por supuesto supone toda una confesión irónica sobre su situación y sobre la sociedad. Mirada irónica, muchas veces desolada, desdeñosa.....Se junta con amigos estupendos: Danko y Helm de mis adorados The Band y, por supuesto sus fieles escuderos de Crazy Horse, Ralph Molina y Billy Talbot.

Young nada a contracorriente, siempre lo hizo y este álbum lo atestigua, así como sus obras maestras anteriores y ya citadas. Todo el mundo esperaba que, en los años sucesivos tras "Harvest", Young escogiera el camino fácil. Nada más lejos de la realidad. Este es un discazo que vuelve a los sonidos más descarnados, más personales de un alma atormentada.

Except for what I saw

The first time I saw neil
his spirit was down
The next time I saw neil
I tryed to boost his spirits
with my music and I did
and it work.
In return neil played, sang,
and wrote, the best of any music
in a while.
Not to speak of the fun we had.
We laughed so hard we all had bruised ribs.
On revolution blues, I turned
into a python than an
aligator, I was crawling like one
making noises like one.
Plus I was eating up the
carpit and mike stands and such
and in the meanwhile I started
to crawl up towards neil,
which is pretty spooky

when your trying to sing
but any ways by that time
the necktie people ask my
friend Joe what are we gonna
do about Rusty, and my friends
answer was Hell I don't know
I'm just hanging around
to see if he'll swallow him
ore not.
But what the hell
I give you my word
there is good music in this
album.
